I know you perhaps hate on me because I am an Influencer. With no surprise, as per your valuable faith, you and I do not share commonality with a very few exceptions. The message I share across my social media or my personal website is fast becoming the exact opposite of something you wanna listen to.

As embedded as we are in the age of scammers, where influencers like me quite perfectly know that a few regular people use their cunning wit, and verve to smoothly make their way into shit for free—it is no surprise that some of the kids who buy fake followers) for mere fun are thriving in this new economy, grifting their way to an empty sort of fame, built on nothing. I partially believed when you said “Every time you refreshed the page, there was this another fashion blogger”.

However, it hurts me in the gut because you cannot put everyone in the same boat, do you? I belong to the same industry and I do claim to be an Influencer/blogger. I have been in the industry for a year now and I tell you for sure the amount of sacrifices I made in the whole year for I have cancelled out my most important family events while showing up for a blogger’s meet up. I said no to a party with my best friends just so that I could finish up my undone blogging tasks. I have cut down my sleep schedule from 8 good hours to 4. Hard to handle, ain’t it?

Easier to say that you are least interested in the PR packages I received and the amount of collaborations I engage myself in, but little do you know the nightmare of navigating through a sea of emails, direct messages and personal texts for the same collaborations and PR packages respectively neither do you feel the disappointment of multiple refusals because I am just not ready to commit to anyone.

I, as an Influencer, ain’t telling you something that you cannot discover on your own over a span of a few hours but I serve as a bridge which lets you save your time at the cost of MY very own mental peace. I build content so that YOU don’t have to do so, I try a unique product on me which also at times had a bad reaction on me just so that you wouldn’t face the trouble. Eventually, you get the harmless product. You wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy working with all kinds of temperaments, male egos and “so called” fancy brands who who’d suck your blood, will earns in millions but would expect you to work for them for free.

I spend a week creating a content with a relevant write up while also value the art of sharing my point of view but yeah, so smooth for you to claim that influencer’s content is devoid of real sentiments. That’s not very thoughtful of you.

However, just like Google, Facebook, Fashion Magazines and spaces of that sort, influencers are also content producers just like photographers are. We lose sleep, personal relationships, family events, birthday parties and wedding for the goddam blog. We require the same budgeting, sprinkled with a whole lot of respect, for our time and energy just like a TV journalist or an actor in role does.

For we are the present. We are the power!
