Karachittes love eating and then discussing the food they just had. So soon as a new food outlet goes live, they rush to try it out. But what happens when a Karachiite, travelling to twin cities, does not find food according to their taste buds? Tasteless and saltless…

Hi fellas, another day another blog. I hope you’re following me on my Instagram page which is down below and interacting with me, are you?

“I am too sick of eating Chinese Italian and junk food in general, I said. Let me take you to a place, serves desi food and girl you are going to love it-someone dear to me exclaimed. I was surprised because to my experience I never had home-like food in Islamabad before so it did get me excited.

The Restaurant is tucked away in F-11 Markaz, right beside “Baggay ka Dhaba” , exactly opposite to Olympus Mall by the name of “Maza Waza”. Yeah you heard it right. It was funny to me but later when I discussed it with the owner, it started making sense. For what sense does it make, you’ll have to read till the end). Maza Waza is an open air dine in restaurant which serves desi food with cozy environment and literate kind of crowd within that space.

The restaurant has a seating capacity of 40 to 45 individuals if not less but to say that it’s a small dine in place, would be an understatement because even with that amount of limited individuals we had to wait and arrange for our seats.

What did you eat, you ask?

So I ordered Sajji with rice, quarter of a whole platter because till that point I was still dubious about the taste. Along with that, they asked us to taste the chef’s special Mutton Qeema Karhai . Our order was served within 20 minutes (still took them 20 because we could see them cook in-front of our eyes) with sidelines like raita and salad. But oh my God you guys, it was the best Sajji I ever had. So well cooked, had a crispy effect but tasted heaven. For Rs 300 only, I could tell it was the most affordable restaurant in town.

For Quarter Rs 300

For half Rs 500

For full platter Rs 900

The second was Tawwa Qeema served with freshly cooked naan along with sidelines like raita and onion salad. Not a mutton fan, but I could tell that it was well cooked balanced with all spices not too spicy yet not too mild. Perfect taste as I could say. Tawwa Qeema costed us for Rs 570.

I wanted to try out more of their options but sadly I was too full to eat more, however, my friends still praise the rest of their dishes as they loved their Tawwa Chicken.

So if you are starving, looking for outdoor yet home-like food, Maza Waza I would recommend. It will not cost you more than Rs 1000 per head.

What’s more that you need to know about Maza Waza:

Maza Waza is owned by Hashim Khan, Ali Swati as the co-owner, who has a knit to run his own business, is as determined to make “Maza Waza” the best eatery in town and wishes to build good terms with people associated with the whole outlet. He insisted and dealt with people across the country in a bid to find the best chef for Maza Waza, however, ended up bringing the chef all the way from the food streets of Lahore. Noting the fact, chefs from Lahore are considered to be one of the best cooks in the whole country. But why name it Maza Waza, you ask?

“I wanted to name my space something which is not cliche, not very common. A name that everyone could remember at the tip of their tongues. Something which defines my intention, my intention to bring maza in the lives of people who come to have a good eat at my restaurant . Also, I wanted to make it really casual for people to remember”.

Chef from Qazafi Stadium food street, Lahore.

Dropping down the main menu:

How will I rate Maza Waza:

Food rating: 4.5/5

Ambiance: 4/5 (1 point less as I would want it to be more spacious)

Service: 5/5 (Friendly and cooperative staff, quick service)

Price: Rs 1000 per head

Do give it a shot Islamabadis and let me know how would you rate it.

Good day!
