Hi, good to see you on my blog again!

So today I am going to spare a few minutes into writing how Roquia, as in I, take photos. Frankly speaking I’m a photography geek, BIG ONE. I have an implicit faith in the fact that one is unproductive if he is not taking photos wherever he goes. Good photo or a bad photo, that comes way too later.
Photography is an art which does, in fact, enhance the charm and beauty of events. However when words fail, the photo speaks. But how do you take a photo and what should be kept in mind while planning to capture something.
Look, I understand not everyone has extra-ordinary beautiful house which does have textured marbles or have painted walls or things like that, so what should you do? Do not pursue your passion at all? Hell no. You “CREATE” things. Don’t have a fine background? Fret not, you will have one. Don’t know how to take a good angle? I’ll tell you how.

MAJOR FLOP PHOTOGRAPHY
You see the photo above? What’s wrong with that? I’ll tell you. 1. Totally off background (Should have been plane colored BG rather than stony marbles)
2. Not properly cropped out (Unnecessary space)
3. Poor snap chat filter ( Major flop)
4. Everything is wrong about the picture, ugh!
For photography all you need to have are following things, intact.
1. Plain contrasting background
2. Useful yet relevant props
3.Creative mind (which we all have)
4. Good phone, DUH!!
5. Perfect lightening (8am to 10 am lights I highly recommend)
6. Good editing application

1. PLAIN BACKGROUND:
For a bearable background, first and foremost you need to create a plain background of color of the theme you have already planned. (Consider the color of your product if you have any. If not, ignore this part). For instance, you have white colored theme planned, like the picture above and you want to create a dreamy, clean look.
Get a plain scarf or dupatta AND (a quilt would do too) of colors like white, off-white, beige, somewhat fawn color, because, in your photo it will still appear whitish. Now, fold that scarf into two and place it on the floor under the sky or near your balcony I would prefer (in case you are taking photos at 8 am or 9 am). Just avoid bright sunlight.
2. GATHER USEFUL AND RELEVANT PROPS:
For a great attractive picture it is better you add props in the frame. In my case I had breakfast theme in mind, so I stooped towards crockery side. Picked up a beautiful white kettle and a sugar pot again white in color, a pack of biscuit, a pair of cute white earrings, a cup of chai which is a must and an open book. (Book always give my photos a dreamy look so I always add a book in the frame). If you do notice, I only had to put in biscuits in the frame because I wanted to match tea color with something. Due to which, I matched the color of biscuit with tea which turned out to be beautiful, I guess?

For example, I had a promotional cup in blue, sent by a company. So anyhow my theme had to be bluish with good combination colors like you see in the picture. I picked a pendant which had a blue stone and wore denim shirt just to add tad bit of creation. I could have kept the smiley faced pendant down on the floor too but what’s the point of putting it down when I could hold it and show a little effect of my hand and my shirt too, Get my point?
3. CREATIVE MIND FOR THE WIN:
Look don’t be mediocre with your photographs. It’s YOU who has the camera. YOU have almost every little thing in the house. A pencil, a photo frame, a pendant, crockery, a cup, a pair of shoes, a good outfit, a pair of earrings, an anklet, a water bottle EVERYTHING. All you need is creativity with matching colors, adding useful props and cancelling out unnecessary stuff.

I PLANNED TO EMIT DREAMY WINTER VIBE THROUGH A PHOTO
Like in the picture above, I picked out a woolen top of mine, a chocolaty brown tea pot, a black surfaced concealer kit (Just to give my photograph a dark touch), pair cool black stud, a printed surfaced eye liner, and a book which had similar cover page as the theme. (that is, brown and blackish), AND my favorite black shades. SUCH WARM VIBES AGH!
4. GOOD PHONE, DUH!!!
If you have everything but not a good phone YOU ARE FAILING AT THIS, my friend. Doesn’t matter whether iPhone or Samsung or any other. Get a good phone, open its original camera, set it to HD mode and then set your angle to click a good photograph.
In my case, I use iPhone 6 for my photos, and play with its settings to get my kind of photograph.

4. NATURAL DAY LIGHT:
If you dare to take a photograph after 5pm, you are not getting what you wish to get. Trust me. It is highly recommended that you choose the time of the day when the Sun is not just above your head emitting bright rays that you barely open your eyes, and it should not also be the time of the day when the Sun has already set. Choose a mid way. Also, prefer choosing the spot where you are under the sky or near your balcony. Get the point?
So I wake up at 7 in the morning and take photos at 8, sharp. Because that’s when I get the best photos.

6. GOOD EDITING APPLICATION:
Perfect angle, good lights, good phone and useful props are not the only things which will get you an Instagramable picture, my friend. All is worth it if you have a good editing app and you have a sense of how to edit a picture.
What I use to edit
VSCO APPLICATION (ANY DAY)
iPhone’s Dramatic cool filter for some of my photos
Instagram filters just to adjust and finalize the look

Unedited version

Edited version from VSCO
The edited and unedited version of the same picture
Here I used VSCO app to get the desired photo. What I did was, sharpened the picture just to get ride of blurry effect. Gave some clarity, Cropped out the unnecessary space, gave some saturation for better colors. THAT’S IT!

I changed almost everything in the above picture. Added some extra lights, saturated it, cropped out, sharpened it, a little bit of clarity was added, and some more Instagram sharpness too. WHOLE LOT OF DIFFERENT WAS OBSERVED.
That’s all about it. I expect you to start being productive and do things that you like to do. Get up, create things if you are not already blessed with, and photograph. Let’s find happiness in little things that we have.
HAPPY PHOTOGRAPHING, CHEERS!
